Methodology
How we rate
Star ratings on Chip District UK are a compact way to show how operators in a defined cohort compare with each other. They are not certificates, popularity scores, or predictions of how much anyone will win.
Gate before scoring
An operator only enters the board if we can verify, on the UK Gambling Commission public register:
- an active remote casino permission for the relevant product
- the legal licensee name and account number
- a matching authorised domain for the brand we link
Failing that gate means omission, not a low star rating.
What the stars weigh
- Licence posture — continuity of remote casino authorisation and clarity of the registered destination.
- Product fit — whether the brand is a credible casino destination versus a sportsbook with a thin casino layer, relative to others in the same set.
- Player-facing clarity — how plainly licensing, safer-gambling tools, and terms are signposted on the operator’s public pages (without inventing claim-level detail we cannot verify).
- Documentation quality — consistency between brand claims and register data.
What we deliberately skip
We do not invent user-review counts, “trust scores” dressed as regulator metrics, or bonus amounts we have not confirmed on current operator materials. When promotional figures are uncertain, cards stay silent on offers.
Featured placement
The homepage may feature one operator as a reference point for the cohort. That choice reflects the same criteria plus readability of the comparison story. Commercial relationships can influence which brands appear; they do not rewrite register facts. See affiliate disclosure.
